Of the many brands operating in the direct-to-consumer e-bike space, one that continues to surprise us with the quality and design of their e-bikes is Aventon. Their lineup is creative and smart, and now they’ve introduced their first cargo e-bike.

So what is the Abound? Well, it’s a long-tail cargo e-bike with 20-in. wheels, a brushless, geared hub motor, a 720Wh battery and a torque sensor. This last little detail is worth more than it seems. Its rear rack has a payload capacity of 143 lbs.—more than enough to carry a kid...

RadRunner 3 Plus Review: EBR’s Take on the New Specs

Rad Power Bikes has introduced a new version of one of their more popular models, the RadRunner. This is a more upscale version of the RadRunner. They currently sell the RadRunner 2 and the RadRunner Plus. Why offer three different versions of the same e-bike? Easy. Think of them as the different trim levels we see with cars. As we move from the RadRunner 2 to the RadRunner Plus to the RadRunner 3 Plus, the parts improve in quality. Accordingly, they each sit at different price points. As of this writing, the RadRunner Plus is priced at $1999 and the RadRunner 2 is priced at $1499. The new RadRunner 3 Plus goes for $2499.

We’re going to take a look at the new RadRunner 3 Plus and look at what has been upgraded over the RadRunner Plus, and evaluate if the more expensive version is worth the extra greenbacks. Plot spoiler: The value on Rad Power Bikes tends to be high enough that their more upscale models are very good values indeed.
