Happy 2026! In this week’s e-bike news, we look at new theft deterrent features from Bosch, e-bike legislation in California, and a notable death in the industry.
Bosch announced a fresh feature in its Flow app that allows users to mark bikes as stolen in the event of theft. The company hopes to hamper the resale of stolen products by
linking bikes and their major components to user profiles.
Newly implemented changes to California law will affect both e-bikes and off-road electric motorcycles. E-bikes must now be equipped with visibility-enhancing features, while e-motos must be registered with the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Finally, we bid farewell to Joe Montgomery, the founder of Cannondale
Bikes. Montgomery, who died at 86, left a legacy of innovation that we see in many bicycles and e-bikes today.
