The largest stories in e-bike news this week involve recalls from major brands and potentially positive changes to e-bike and micromobility laws in Oregon.
Â
Specialized has issued a Stop Ride notice for all models of its Turbo Como SL e-bike. The company is currently working with the CPSC to develop and implement a plan for the
affected units.
Â
A recall from motor manufacturer Hyena E-Bike Systems affects nearly 20,000 Trek and Electra e-bikes. Owners of affected FX+ 1 and Townie Go! models should stop using their e-bikes due to a potential fall hazard.
Â
Additionally, Oregon House Bill 4007 seeks to encourage proper e-bike education for young riders. The bill would also create a new legal class of
micromobility devices and make it a violation of the law to sell unsafe batteries or high-powered e-motos when listed as e-bikes.
