E-BIKE Act Would Introduce 30% US Federal Tax Credit For New E-Bike Purchases

Hi ,
Before we send you this weeks normal newsletter we wanted to let you know of a proposed bill in the U.S. Congress. The bill is proposing tax credits for those who purchase an e-bike, so we thought you would want to hear about this bill, and we also forward along a quick resource from PeopleForBikes so you can contact your congressional representative and let them know how you feel about it. We are pretty excited about the proposed bill and what it could
mean for the advancement of e-bike use in the United States.
The proposed credit would cover 30% of the electric bike's purchase price up to the value of a $1,500 credit.
Speaking on his proposed bill, Congressman Panetta had this to say:
“E-bikes are not just a fad for a select few, they are a legitimate and practical form of transportation that can help reduce our carbon emissions. My legislation will make it easier for more people from all socio-economic levels to own e-bikes and contribute to cutting our carbon output. By incentivizing the use of electric bicycles to replace car trips through a consumer tax credit, we can not only encourage more Americans to transition to greener modes of
transportation, but also help fight the climate crisis.”
