The other week I had the amazing opportunity to join the ExtraEnergy and China Bicycle Association tour of many electric bike factories in the Shanghai and Tianjin areas of China. 

The purpose of the trip was to study the Chinese electric bike market that is shifting from predominantly lead acid scooter style e-bikes to more traditional bicycle style e-bikes with lithium batteries. 

We also got a feel for the increase in e-bike exports that are going to Europe, the U.S., and other countries.

Ride Report: Kalkhoff Sahel Compact Impulse 8 Electric Bike
Paul Willerton was recently able to spend some time riding the Kalkhoff Sahel Compact Impulse 8.

This is a compact e-bike that has an impressive stated range and component spec.
